Imagine a junction has two roads intersecting .the traffic light turns green without any cars whereas the road which is stopped have more cars .this is how 60% of the traffic is caused. The city has a higher car ownership than Singapore, NYC and London.
Approximately 2000 cars face traffic every day. The number of cars has doubled, the road transport authority said that “For every 2 Dubai Residents there is 1 Car”.
Dubai has the highest rate of traffic in which the google maps show red lanes half the time. Due to traffic that often causes vehicle idling releases a lot of green gas emissions along with a high fuel consumption.
Despite more roads, flyovers and the metro being used, all of it wasn’t sufficient to solve traffic problems.
Traffic that barely moves is not only causing a lot of stress and tension on drivers it also causes accidents, headaches and several other problems for frequent drivers using that road.
We have found a solution to this problem. If our system is applied in real life then the traffic problem will be greatly reduced. The system’s traffic light timings adjust according to the number of cars in the lane and the more the cars in the lane, the longer the signal will stay green and the less time it stays red so the traffic can be cleared easily.
The current traffic systems have the same amount of timing for the traffic lights and waste time by giving a lot of green light to the lanes with less cars! Our system gives priority to the lanes which have more cars and the signal colour changes according to the actual number of traffic. If the government can implement these features in Dubai, this will be really helpful and lighten up a lot of the traffic problems.
